mezban

the word mezban in Persian means 'host'. In Chittagong mezban stands for community feast, with a simple menu of rice and beef-curry only. It's a tradition of Chittagong mainly observed by the rich. Usually a mezban is held on the birth and death anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (sm) that is 12th day of the lunar month Rabiul Awal. Besides, mezban is also held on other occasions such as the death anniversary of an individual, birth of a child or inauguration of a new business.

mezban for my  mother's death held on 18 may.2010 at silver palace community center.
3 cows sacrifices for feast of almost 4000 people.
